CT Scan

In March of 2015, our facility purchased a new 64 slice GE Optima 660 CT scanner. This means that we can acquire images at a faster rate while maintaining high resolution and detailed images necessary for diagnosing a vast array of conditions. The heightened capabilities of the 64 slice CT scanner allow us to perform routine scans as well as high detail vascular studies, also referred to as a Computed Tomography Angiogram (CTA).

Due to the diversity of offered exams patient preparation will vary according to the test ordered by a medical provider. Please call the Radiology Department for more information.

X-ray

Discovered in 1895, X-rays are the oldest and most frequently used form of medical imaging. The most common uses for X-rays are for diagnosing bone fractures, looking for infections or injuries, and locating foreign objects in soft tissue.

With our upgraded DR equipment you can expect your X-rays to be performed with the highest possible detail by our nationally certified technologists.

Bone Density Scan (DEXA)

Bone densitometry, also called dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry, or DEXA, measures bone loss using a very small dose of ionizing radiation to produce pictures of the inside of the body. Dexa testing is currently the best standardized method available to diagnose osteoporosis and is also considered an accurate estimator of fracture risk. With our machine we can screen, diagnose, and/or monitor female and male bone health as well as calculate Total Body Composition (BMI).

MRI

Sheridan County Health Complex offers Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Tuesday and Friday each week by Shared Medical Services, a mobile unit. Their experienced technologists offer highly diagnostic exams for a wide range of pathological conditions. MRI is a key tool in the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment for many areas of the body including brain, spine, musculoskeletal, cancer, among others.

MRI uses a magnetic field instead of radiation to obtain images. This practice may restrict patients who have certain medical devices implanted such as pacemakers and defibrillators. However, most artificial joints, plates, and surgical clips are compatible. If there is a history of shrapnel or metal foreign bodies from gunshots, welding, and grinding a medical provider should be consulted prior to undergoing exam.

If there is concern for claustrophobia or anxiety a medical provider should be consulted prior to undergoing exam.

Due to the diversity of offered exams patient preparation will vary according to the test ordered by a medical provider. Please call the Radiology Department for more information.

Nuclear Medicine

Front Range Nuclear Services provides Nuclear Medicine services to Sheridan County Health Complex every second and fourth Thursday of the month. These high tech exams use radioactive isotopes to pinpoint specific parts of the body and render high quality diagnostic images. Nuclear Medicine can be utilized in the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of conditions such as coronary artery blockages, malfunctioning gallbladders, bone disease, and many more.
